Does anyone know how many days or weeks ahead of confirmed ED delivery date there should be a production number and/or vin assigned to the vehicle.

Hence you should have this info several weeks before that.
You should have a production week assigned more or less when you order.

The production number should be assigned almost right away. They assign the VIN number soon after, before your car is produced.

Got my vin from the dealer and checked the bmw website (owners circle). THe status of the vehicle is shown as scheduled for production. My delivery date in munich is nov 3. Obviously they are not produced much ahead of time.
