Never heard that one before - but good to hear how BMW and Gerling resolved the situation.

At least they didn't drop it on the ground.

I thought the car was riding a little low to the ground recently!

They stole both my side mirrors in Paris in 1997, did't put a scratch on the car, and the wires were neatly seperated at the connectors.
Cost me $900.00 to have them replaced at a local shop. I overnighted 1/2 block from the Champs Elyesee with a fiat uno rental. Gerling reimbursed me after I was home, and Roadside Assistance picked up the tab on the spot for the best hotel I stayed in the whole trip, and for the rental car. I had an insane dash to the dealer the next afternoon, Saturday. I thought they were open late, forgetting it was the weekend. I got lost and the dealer waited almost 2 hours for me. The French in 3 panic stops for directions were incredibly nice to an English only lost American.
Then I came back and wrote an internet article "How BMW ruined my vacation!" OK, just kidding about the last part.
Actually I can't say enough good things about how everyone handled it. And it made for a memorable experience.
