No issues really. Regarding country codes, yes, of course you need to dial them.

Not sure what you mean by increasing your international coverage - what was your int'l. coverage before the increase?

I've been to Europe using both a tri-band and a quad-band cingular phone, and have never had a single problem with connecting or with coverage. Using the phone in Europe is very easy. To dial the US, just make sure the phone number is in your phone book as +1-Area Code-Number (for example +1-888-765-4321). Dialing Germany would mean you need to use +49 and then the number. The "+" character is important! Its the same as dialing 001 or 011.

Actually, for Germany you would dial +49.

Regarding dialing toll-free numbers (such as the example above) from Europe to the U.S., sometimes that works, sometimes not.

'Doh! You're right, sorry about that! I'll go edit my original post to avoid too much confusion.

I just used the 888 number as an example...but I was able to dial them during my last trip, but there was usually a message first saying that it wouldn't be free.

Some things are indelibly carved in memory, even if I didn't call there frequently. My first phone number in München +49 (0)89 32 31 718 for example.
