 Insurance Question

My SA calls today and asked how long I want insurance for on my ED. I said probably 10 days, since I'll have the car for 8 then drop off. He then said "what about the boat ride back to the US?". I assumed he wanted to know how long I will need insurance on the car while I'm driving and boat\shipping insurance is seperate, correct?

Why is your service advisor handling your ED? That sounds like a guarantee of failure.

The insurance isnīt required for the boat ride.

Ummm this is all part of doing the ED.... your dealer should not be doing anything with that. BMWNA does it all, The car also has marine insurance which is covered by BMW.
There is no reason for the dealer to do anything with this unless they were checking to make sure you did not need additional coverage over the 14 days. If they are charging you for anything they are not doing things the right way!!!

BMW European Delivery provides 14 days of premium insurance and tourist registration with no additional cost to you. However, should you decide to extend this, additional coverage is available for purchase in 30-day increments only. This coverage must extend to your drop-off date and can be arranged through your local BMW Center and must be done in advance to your pick up date. The European Delivery department must be notified a minimum of 2 weeks prior to pick up in Munich in the event of an insurance change. The change of insurance cannot be done upon arrival in Munich.

Best of Luck!
