Little Help to Clarify ED Plan:
Hello:
Got the green light from the wifey to start planning the ED pickup of a 330i, with only two catches - we have to use our NWA miles and it has to be $XXXX or less over ED invoice.
So, starting next week I'm going to start with the dealers closest to me for my "offer" of a 06 330i, SP, PP, HS, jet black $XXXX over ED invoice. Hopefully I can get something finalized by Friday next week (place my order). My big concern is now getting my pickup date finalized for late October\early November, so I can book using my airline miles. Its pretty hard to get flights on NWA for 50k miles, and they're there today - I need to book soon!
I've done a ton of searching and reading: just wanted to finalize a couple thoughts from you all:
1. Once I get an offer finalized with a dealer, I should get my pickup date within 3 business days? 2. Once I get my pickup date (within 3 days?) then can I book my airfare? 3. Is 8\9 weeks reasonable for a E90 pickup? 4. I pay (I'm financing) for my car 30 days before pickup? 5. An ED E90 'doesnt' come out of the dealer allotment, so its profit for them to simply to paperwork? Any other fees I have to pay for an ED?
One thing I havent seen discussion about***********: when do you ED folks target to sell your existing car? If I do delivery in Nov 1, then I should get my car sometime around Dec?
Thats all for now, I'm sure more questions will come. This board is great, thanks again.

Can't tell you hoe long it takes for redelivery, it depends on where you live and any damage occured in transit. Those things happens and you should really have back-up plan so you don't have to walk to work if your car is delayed.
Once ED office orally confirms the date, you should be 90% safe on pick-up date.
Oh yeah... and stop posting prices for pete's sake. I am getting tired of XXX'ing them out
cheers,

Yes 3. yes. or was depends on their production schedule and how well they are selling. 4. Yes (although some dealers are slightly flexable about this I payed 23 days out due to my wacky travel schedule) 5. Dunno, I find the whole over invoice thing creepy. I'll let others answer.
Selling car is tricky, I am trying to sell mine now (waiting for re-delivery) if I sell before my E90 comes I will borrow one from a friend, if not I will be stuck with two cars. If I get desprate I will go to Carmax or something and just eat the loss. I had a buyer who was willing to wait burt that fell through so I am kind of screwed on that front.

(used to be 30 days) 5. Correct, but there is paperwork, a test drive perhaps before the order, 238 phone calls, normal procedures for prepping/detailing car, registration upon redelivery...blah blah No other fees for ED except insurance beyond the 14 'free' days. If you lease (BMWFS)there is a .0003 add onto the money factor for ED but you get the 2nd lease payment free. It's non-negotiable. Not sure about any add-ons to the % rate for purchases through BMWFS.
Where in the US are you? Seems like 4-6 weeks for the East Coast and 6-8 weeks for the West Coast is average. I just got a California redelivery in 6 weeks exactly.
When to sell your car? Only you can decide that one.

Our E39 needed some repair work at VPC so it added a couple more weeks.
Your logistical question really depends on your situation. But, for example, we got rid of a vehicle during the re-delivery wait. However it was already a spare vehicle. If you don't have a spare car, you may want to wait until re-delivery. Being short a car for a few weeks (renting, borrowing, or alot of carpooling?) sounds like a hassle to me.
