 Question for the ED experts

As I have posted here, I have an ED scheduled for Oct 3rd. I have been checking the production status of the car and the official status is that it is produced and awaiting shipment. In the mean while I have my travel booked and ready to go.

I went to the dealership today with my check in hand to pay for the car (the dealership had said that payment was due about 2 weeks before delivery).

However as I was about to hand over the check he told me that he had just received a call and the delivery will be delayed by two weeks and it will be Oct 17. He left a message for the ED delivery person in BWM USA while I was at the dealership.

I have three questions

1) Is this normal
2) if the car is already manufactured what can be the delay
3) Is my only option to ask for my down payment back and go buy something other than BMW

1) It's not normal.
2) The car is normally built a month before delivery, so it should already be waiting for you. Now, that's not to say that something has gone wrong with the one they built for you. I'm hoping it's not something like they had a major recall.
3) Well, you could wait 2 weeks if you can change your travel arrangements. After all, you did want that BMW, right?

Have you filled out the Purchase Order and the documents requiring the notary public already?

BMW needs these documents one month before you pick up.

If they have not been filled out and provided to BMWNA, this may be the reason why it was delayed as today is September 16 and now it's moved to October 17.

1. No...it's definately not normal
2. I have no idea.
3. You can always get your money back and go buy anything you want.

This sounds like poor communication between you, the dealer, the ED dept, and maybe the factory. When it comes right down to it your sales person is responsible for booking the date, the car, and getting it all confirmed and set in stone. It sounds like they dropped the ball. You need the owner (or sales manager) of the dealership to explain the situation and if it's their fault they need to compensate you for any re-booking expenses.
Sounds awful....I'd be upset too.

Thanks for the responses. Yes I had signed the document requiring Notary Public signature.
