I know most people know about Oktoberfest and its a fine event, but I thought I point out my favorite event that occurs in autum up by the Rhine River region. Federweißen Zwiebelkuchen Being a beir lover and not a winer, but I have to tell ya... that Federweisser is DA BOMB. It taste simple and innocent, and yet it will KNOCK YOU ON YOUR ARSE   If you are planning to drop-off your car in Frankfurt, Cologne, be sure to get a bottle of Federweiser at the end of teh day. **Warning** This stuff is really good and you can easily drink a whole bottle by yourself and .... pretty strong stuff if you are not careful. cheers, beewang  |

Hmmm... interesting. I will be traveling through the Alsace region of France, and they have something that sounds very similar called Neuer Suesser. It's picking season right now. I will have to make a point of seeing if I can find some while there. Thanks for the tip.

You can also get such a product in Bavaria and Austria - there it is referred to as Sturm! You can get it red or white. And yes - it will knock you on your butt!
