speed of delivery and drop off
I've had a change of plans and will only be in Munich briefly enough to sign the papers and get my car to the drop off center. Based on your experiences I'm wondering if my plan is feasible. My flight arrives at noon. I can get to the delivery center before 1pm (assuming the plane is on-time). However, I need to be back at the airport by 4. Is this possible? Any suggestions on how to speed along the process.

I highly doubt it, that is cutting it way too close for an international flight. Takes at least 35 minutes to get to the delivery center, and depending on how many people are ahead of you at least 45 minutes for them (I was the second person there) to do the necessary paperwork and plates etc. Then some time going over the car and then the drive to dropoff figure another 30+ minutes depending on the traffic/construction. Then depending on the wait at Harms, I was there for at least an hour. and then you have to taxi back to the airport, another 30+ minutes. Then check in etc.....
Good luck with that, why even do the ED? To save money? At least have a day with the car and spend a night... I mean in all seriousness it is really worth the 14+ hours on a plane plus the ticket to save a few thousand? To me it isn't but good luck and have a safe trip!!!

Allowing 30-45 min. for you to get back to the airport BY 4 p.m., that leaves 2 h 15 min maximum for delivery and return to Harms.
I would say this is probably not enough time given the unknown wait time at the delivery center and at Harms.
If there were ZERO wait time at both ends - and no traffic on the roads - it just might work but I sincerely doubt it.
Why would you change plans that eliminate your ability to enjoy your car?

Thanks for your advise. I will be in Paris, but need to get back for a meeting that evening. My flight doesn't leave until 5:30 pm, so getting to the airport by 4:30 is plenty of time for a European flight. So, assuming that I arrive at the BMW delivery center at 12:30, I have closer to 3.5 hours from then until I need to leave from Harms for the airport. But in any event, it does sound like it's cutting it close. I'll see what I can do to move the flight back. As for enjoying the car in Europe, well, that would be nice, but I'll be in meetings and at work, and I'd just assume get it on it's way back to the US so I can enjoy it there.

If you are several hours delayed (weather delays, ATC) into MUC, ...

One more comment: just listening to CNN and the air traffic forecast for today is 2 - 3 hour delays predicted from the NY metro area, Boston, and Phila.
That would be enough to wreak havoc on your plans.
