Any general directions or advice about Cologne in general?
We're staying at the Renaissance and dropping off Monday morning before flying back home.

Hi there,
I'm living in Cologne.
There's a big Catholic Festival going around at the moment, 1 million visitors are expected. The pope will show up on Thursday at the Dome Cathedral (not far away from your hotel).
Across your hotel, you'll see small streets heading to the shopping area. On the eastern side of the Dome Cathedral, you have the old city with a lot of beer bars and restaurants. Very nice tourist attraction.

I dropped off in Koln, Nov 04 (delivery ctr said it was the fastest euro point to get it home). Drove from Prague CR. Took forever, 8am to 5pm, lots of traffic across Germany's autobahn. The Harms office was easy to find with the needed help of BMW NAV. They even stayed open a little late for us to arrive. We then took a taxi to the train station to get to Amsterdam to return to the US

Staying at the Renaissance Aye??!! 
Parking is not cheap there but VERY secured. I parked one day on the street (if you can find one) and paid the 2nd day. a very short walking distance to the cathedral and lots of fancy bars/restaurants near by the hotel.
Best of all, there is a Starbucks right around the corner where we Amrikan Imperialist pigs can get our coffee to get the day started and use my T-Mobile HotSpot account to check in on bimmerfest
