 Best Beer Garden/Hall

We're doing Mike's bike tour on Wednesday and they'll be taking us to the Chinese Tower. I would like to try all of Munich's beer gardens, but limited time probably only permits 2-3 others. Hofbrauhaus is likely going to be one of them.

What are the quintessential others that YOU would go to???

Well, you have two of the best already lined up. The Chinese Tower is in the Englischer Garten, and has a lively and fun set of long outdoor tables, which is it's great biergarten. You can get local food there, but they also serve Munchnerhofbrau bier there as well of a few varieties. Be sure to turn in your glasses afterwards, along with the wooden tokens they give you. There's a 2 Euro deposit on the glasses.

Don't miss the Hofbrauhaus either, and go with a hearty appetite.

Have fun!!

Everyone says the Augustiner Hall is very good, the Chinese Turn in the Englisher Garten is wonderful...almost all locals and very nice...be sure and walk around the park first, or later if you can still walk. You can rent a biker to take you back to downtown if not. Go look at the Hofbrauhaus, then have dinner/beer across the street and watch all the tourists come and go. Good ice cream down the street for later. We stayed at the Hotel Torbrau about 4/5 blocks away and they have a sidewalk cafe with the best car-watching intersection in town...check it out (Good Italian restaurant there too)

Two of the best? I count one, the Chinesischer Turm. I'm sure you are just joking about the Hofbräuhaus.

The other "best" would be Aumeister.

Come on! You have to go to the Hofbrauhaus. It's corny, but it's a blast! It's what people want a Hofbrauhaus to look like/be.

You are correct about the Biergarten in the Englischer Garten. We stayed there for hours talked to many locals, had great picnic style German food, and had a healthy helping of beer, on a wonderful afternoon/evening.

If you mean it's what people want a Brewery restaurant to look like/be like, I must confess that I do not know anyone who would want that. Most locals would recommend authentic German establishments populated by locals.

Also, for the record, it's Hofbräuhaus.
