Guys,
I have a questions about France and Paris. I've visited Paris before and didn't like the idea of driving into town. I was wondering if anyone left their car outside in the rural or suburban areas and took a train into town for a two day visit? If so, any advice would be appreciated on a good location or garage.
Secondly, coming from Frankfurt, can anyone recommend routes through eastern France? I would give it a days travel before arriving in Paris.
Thanks in advance.

R-Triple-1 | If Paris is your last stop, you can drop off there at the beginning of your stay and not have to worry.

R-Triple-1 | I drove from Baden-Baden to Paris using the French toll way - I think we passed through the Champaigne region which seemed quite pretty. Besides that, there were quaint little towns all the way every 20 miles. You can probably chekc out Lyon which is close to Geneva - it is supposed to be nice though I never made it there.
Check your PM.

Paris won't be my dropoff point. My intineary will take me north to Amsterdam.
I was hoping to cut west from Frankfurt, and go north through the Paris area and to Brussels before ending up in AMS.
Things are starting to shape up with less than 60 days left. I'm just concerned that city traffic and parking will give me some problems in Paris.
I took a look at the map today and did see that I wold likely be passing through the Champagne region...that'll be tempting, but I think Paris will be where we will camp in France.

Everyone has his or her own preferences, but I'd go by way of Lyon. Interesting city centers (2), good food, great chocolate, and much more manageable than Paris. There is frequent high-speed train service (TGV) to Paris, if you must go.

If you are into food, Lyon is the best. La Cour des Loges Hotel is one of my favorites in the world; and they have some promotional deals for Americans in Dollars instead of Euros.
Regarding driving in Paris; it is a bit challenging, but not as bad some people say (frankly, it was easy after driving in Como). Depending on where you stay, I would just valet at the hotel or get VERY GOOD written directions from your hotel to a garage close by. Expect to pay about 30 Euros or so per night.
Good luck.
