I'm trying not to freak out, but we're due to ED an X3 on October 25th and don't have a production number. Our CA is a noted ED person and I don't want to worry, but everything I've read says that you'll get a production number one month before the car is made, which is one month before you pick it up.....which meant I should have gotten a number at the beginning of August. The other reason I'm a little worried is that I gave my credit card info for a deposit and nothing was ever charged. I know that airfare is low, but we wanted to try to do the 2 for 1 from lufthansa, and we can't do that without a production number. I really don't want to wait to reserve tickets, but I'm a little concerned. Any advice????

Your dealer should have a production number for you by now. If he doesn't, he is either lazy or an idiot.

I’m picking up my car on October 14. I have an order number but not a VIN. I was told that VIN would be available when the car goes into production. You can reserve you Lufthansa tickets without a VIN. Just give them your credit card number and your ticket, the price, and even your seats are guaranteed. When you get the VIN, call back the travel agency.

I have a ED sceduled (325 xi) for 10/3. The status on the website still shows as on order and has not gone into production. At what time do I start getting worried, one week from now, two weeks from now?

Don't be worried, the owners circle system is notoriously out of date. You should either call your dealer for an update or BMW USA directly at 800-831-1117.

Thanks, checked with BMWNA, the automated message states that there is no confirmed production date.
