Waited for the longest time, and now I am now ordering a 550i (manual ofcourse, for the driving experience) and plan to pick up the car in first week of November in Munich. Any suggestions on where I can drive to around in europe ( one week trip) before dropping it back to munich to ship to the US?. I was planning on driving to Switzerland. Also, any experience on the what the weather will be like at that time of the year? Thanks! |

| Congrats on your new ride and upcoming ED trip. You may get a better response to your question if post your request in the ED forum. You may also search there and read some of the threads there as Switzerland seems to be a common destination.

Would recommend you consider a drive south, through Innsbruck and across the Brenner Paß. This is something you can do in 3-4 hours. You could stay in Innsbruck and then perhaps drive to Salzburg, continuing on to Vienna the next day. From Vienna, after 2-3 days, you could drive to Budapest and then go back to Vienna where you give up the car.

We drove to Frances Ardeche region late March of this year in our 545 ED. Great roads and fantastic views. Allthough France has a speed limit of 130 km/hr most people drive faster and saw very few if any police. We drove from Fussen to Geneva and planned to stay in Geneva for a few days we left after the first night, it was just too crowded. The trip to Geneva was also very uneventfull.
I am sure there are other parts of Switzerland that are beautifull, however, our route was not.

You can get a 1 week vinette for Austria. You also need a reflective vest, they both cost about 15 EUR.
