Itinerary Choices For Limited Number of Days
I'll be picking up a 325i in mid November with arrival in Munich on Thursday a.m. Having once picked up a car in London after a sleepless night flight and then driven 150 miles (course that had the added fun of driving on the wrong side and learning to shift lefty), I decided I'm better off either not picking up on Thursday, or only picking up and driving to my hotel that day. Staying in Munich that day also gives me a chance for a factory tour late afternoon.
In the limited time available until we have to fly home on Monday, I've come up with two possible itineraries. I'd welcome comments/suggestions from anyone familiar with the locales I'm considering:
Friday a.m. drive to Prague. Have Friday afternoon and Saturday in Prague before driving to Vienna Sunday a.m. Have Sunday afternoon in Vienna before dropping off in Vienna and flying home on Monday.
Or, Friday a.m. drive to Zurich (possibly dipping into Northern Italy for the drive). Have time over the weekend to travel to Lucerne and other nearby areas for sightseeing before drop off in Zurich and fly home on Monday.
Thanks to any who can advise.

Thanks to any who can advise. | Have you been to any of these cities? If not, I'd recommend trying to spend more time in one concentrated area. For example, * thurs - p/u car, drive to factory tour and hotel (not necessarily in that order) * friday - drive to salzburg - spend 3+ hours and continue to Vienna. * sat. - still staying in vienna, see the city * sun. - still staying in vienna, drive to Dürnstein or Eisenstadt * mon. - give up car in vienna

I have been to Lucerne (many years ago), but not to the larger cities.
Of the cities I mentioned Prague is the most interesting to me to visit, but since it's not a drop off city requires a trip either back to Munich or on to Vienna.
All things considered your suggestion of concentrating on Vienna after transiting through Salzburg might make more sense. We could consider first starting to driving south towards Innsbruck before east to Salzburg if we wanted Alpine scenery. I'm not familiar with either Durnstein or Eisenstadt.

Richard the Lionhearted (Richard Löwenherz) was the area´s first prominent guest. He was held captive there and you can climb up to the ruins where he was imprisoned. Gastronimically speaking, incredible region. The Wachau isa great wine region. Most of the wines I buy are from the Wachau.
Eisenstadt is the capital of the Burgenland, our youngest state. It´s closest to Hungary and closely associated with Haydn and Prince Esterházy. You can also go to Rust along the way. Great wine there too.
