I'm taking the eurostar train from paris to london during my ED. Has anyone been on first class on the eurostar? Is it worth it?
thanks

I have done it three time i n first class and it has gotten profressively worse. First time was 1994 and the last time was2001. No baggage storage any more and food is equal to coach airplane food, but the seats are great and queues are shorter to board. There are 2 levels of first class now. I believe the second level is much grander. But it beats the heck out of coach.

I did this last summer and enjoyed it. It was my one and only Eurostar experience, so I don't have a basis for comparison. The meals were reasonably good; we had breakfast on the trip to London and dinner on the return to Paris. We also had the entire car to ourselves on the trip back. I'd guess the same can't be said for 2nd class!
Train arrives right into Waterloo station (?), the one right by the London Eye Ferris Wheel. Super convenient; at 2hrs 45 minutes each way, I'd recommend it.

I debated to take 1st class, but at the end of the day I went "El Cheapo" and went w/ coach. I have to say, I was glad that I did NOT pay for first class as there were PLENTY of empty seats around and the train was maybe 20% full .
There is nuthing to see once the train reached Calais, and it was a short comfortable ride to London Waterloo station.
That's my 2 cents worth and YMMV.
cheers,

I did roundtrip London (Waterloo station) to Paris (Gare du Nord station) a few years ago in 1st class, which is between Premium and coach classes. I recall coach was packed, Premium was empty, and 1st was half-full, mostly business types. Meal service and food were OK (it's not fine dining), and included with the fare. Seats were airplane-style coach seats, but wider and with more legroom.
The train meandered thru the UK countryside. It did not pick up serious speed until it got to France. Yet, the bullet train I took (Tokyo-Nagoya) last May seemed faster than the eurostar.
I found 1st to be adequate for a 2-3 hour ride. The money you save from paying for Premium can go towards your London hotel.

I did Eurostar a couple of times last summer in both first class and coach. My company was paying for it. First class was definately nicer - the food is really good - free wine, dessert. Bigger, more plush seats. To get the point across, I would say difference in Eurostar between 1st and coach is slightly better than the same on airlines. I would go for it.
First class eurostar typically costs same as airfare between cdg and lhr. (Gare Du Nord to Waterloo in eurostar).
You post mentioned that you ARE taking it, and not that you are debating it - so enjoy the ride!!
