 Driving from Vienna to Budapest?

I am considering driving from Vienna to Budapest. If anyone has done it, could you help with the following questions?

1. What are the roads like between the cities?
2. How long does the drive take?
3. Is the car safe overnight in Budapest?
4. Is Budapest worth the drive?

I appreciate any help.

Where are you planning on dropping the car. I was in Budapest a year ago and it is worth a visit. Not a long one but worth seeing. I did ed but dropped the car in Vienna and took the train from Vienna to Budapest. Hooked up with a land tour in connection with a cruise in Budapest so transport from that point was not an issue. Observations- roads are not bad but not great, traffic in Budapest bad and drivers are crazy.

It´s only maybe 250 km and roads in Budapest are not as good as Germany Austria. Have only driven around Budapest a bunch of years ago and most driving is in Hungary on this trip. Wien to Budapest is a frequent drive for many so I´m sure it´ll be fine. I´d guess 3 hours max. Budapest is also very safe.

It is nice to visit and going from one capital of the Monarchy to the other is a great experience. If you want things to do, see, etc. in and around Vienna, let me know.

My son and his wife (36 years old) do not care to spend lots of time in musuems. I thought we could let them use one of the Bimmers for a road trip and to help their boredom with our time spent in museums.
