Did you have to get a smog check after ED? My dealer insists I MUST do it. His argument is this: the car was in europe where you could have modified it. My counter-argument is that Vehicle Processing Center in Oxnard removes all stuff like that, starting with warning triangle and ending with who knows what.
So... did everybody had to do it? Anybody challenged the dealer on this? I called ED in New Jersey but they were clueless on this issue.

extinsive discution over there about the same question... | i saw this earlier. no certain answer because the thread starts all the way in 2002. i would be really interested in hearing from people who done ED this year.

Picked my car up on Aug 9th in San Diego and was told no smog check needed. Last year I did an ED and they handed me a bill (it was an outrageous $150) for smog and I refused to pay it....so they relented. I think some dealers are confused about it or they are trying to make a quick buck. But this time there was no hesitation....it's just not required.
