If I am doing ED, does it matter if my dealer is 1,000 miles away?
Since I may have to go out-of-state to find a dealer willing to meet my price on a new BMW, does it really matter which dealer I use? In other words, if I'm getting ED, can they ship the car to a dealer near my home in Portland Oregon if I buy the car from a dealer in LA? Or does the car have to be shipped to the dealer from which it was bought?
Thanks for any info!

It cost extra depending on where it is going, $500 in most cases. Try doing a search you may get some info. The dealer you buy the car will ship it to the other dealer. Good Luck

Ask to speak with Jim Cupp, General Sales Manager and tell him that you are refereed by beewang and the bimmerfest board (this is for your benefit and not mine). Jim Cupp has handle 15 of my past ED BMW purchases and he is the top 1 (or 2) ED guy in US w/ appx. 200~300 units of BMW ED per year. Most of Californians buys out of state at Delon, I am not sure why you would want to go the other way around.

1. A courtesy delivery as Mapezzul outlined 2. Make a trip out of picking your new ride up - a good fall back if your local dealer doesn't want to play 'nice' with your ED arranging dealer on setting up a courtesy delivery.

If I buy a car from OR is it sales tax free ??? I understand that OR has no sales tax but I'm not sure if that applies on cars as well...
The other part of the Q is: since I live in CA and would be willing to drive my car down from OR, will I have to pay the CA freck'en sales tax to regiester the car in CA? I would think so, otherwise why wouldn't all CA buy from OR?
