I just booked two nights at the Burg Hotel in Rothenburg based on guidebook and online reviews. Has anyone stayed there? If so, how was it?

I much preferred Regensburg, actually, which offered nice historical interest sites without the cloying feel of Rothenburg.

Last year for our 545 ED, we stayed at the Hotel Klosterstuble, right off the Herrengasse; inside the walls. I thought that Rothenburg was a lovely little town. Now, we were there in late April, so there weren't very many tourists, and I can imagine that in July/August it could be a little much. I highly recommend the "Nightwatchman's Tour" (http://www.nightwatchman.de/index.ph...98417762c78535) that starts around 8:30 or so. The guy is pretty funny.
The medieval crime and punishment museum is also very well done. The "shame masks" are hilarious.

We stayed at the Burg Hotel in Rothenburg for a couple of days suring our honeymoon and really liked it. True it is touristy, but it's also nice since I'm not fluent in German and my husband didn't even try leaving me twisting most of the time. Have some schneeballen for me! (And a weissbier at Zur Hole)
