as general advice, I've travelled to Germany with our daughter at 6 months and 1 y.o.. As far as strollers, Europe is generally kid friendly so you won't have any serious issues. It will be a bit of an inconvenience going through security checkpoints (airports, some museums, etc.) but worth it to not have to lug a little one around all day. You won't find tons of handicap style ramps or elevators at most places like you do in the States so that may be a little bit of a pain too. I would recommend a backpack style carrier as a supplement. Sometimes the little one gets a little uncomfortable in the stroller for extended periods. These come in handy if you're going to be using public transportation a lot or visiting sights with lots of steps. A couple of points of advice: 1) There are lots of cobblestone streets/sidewalks over there so try and find a stroller with big wheels (6" diam minimum but better if larger). The tiny wheeled strollers are useless on uneven walk ways so don't even bother with those. 2) Since you're doing ED, a smaller stroller will be easier to handle/pack (although those are harder to find with the big wheels). 3) Avoid dumping all your tourist accesories (cameras, purses, shopping bags, etc.) in or on the stroller. A loaded stroller is a perfect target for petty thieves - they just observe you until your momentarily distracted (baby crying, looking for directions, etc.) and they make a subtle strike. This is especially true in Italy (I have a friend who had her purse stollen from her lap while she was sitting in a moving car, with the doors locked and windows closed. Moped motored up beside her and bashed the window and a second person reached in and grabbed the purse all while moving at about 30kmh).

I did it with a 5 y/o and 2 y/o. We discussed this in these threads

which you may want to take a look at. If you have more questions, let us know.

I traveled Europe for 18 monts with my daugher. We started when she was 7 months old and didn't stop until we moved away.
The stroller advice is a very good one regarding the cobblestone streets. They will kill the little wheels.
Not only are the strollers a good oportunity to have stuff stolen, but some places the stores are small enough they don't let strollers in. You will see a whole mess of them parked outside while parents and children go in. One one trup to Brugge, Belgium we saw a couple of parrents leave their well bundled and sleeping children asleep outside the store while they dashed in. It seemed odd to us, but no one else seemed to even let on.
Another thing to think about is choosing where you eat. There are pubs and smaller restraunts that will not allow children in at all or only up until around 6pm when the "dinner hour" starts. To avoid pissing off the staff and customers, ask if they allow children. Some may not alow children inside, but will let you eat outside on the patio.

Those are some crazy talanted thives I would bank strait at them and hit knock them to the ground.. It will screw my car side but that is what insurance is for... If they break their nicks, they deserve it...

She was even riding in a car with local plates (i.e. not a rental car or ED) and with a local who knew the area well so they did not fit the "clueless tourist" target profile!
