 Italy Dropoff

Anyone have experience dropping off in Italy. According to the BMW website someone drives it back to Munich for you and then it is truck transported to the ship. Is that how its done from all the dropoff points?

So some unknown person adds a bunch of miles to the car and hopefully doesn't abuse it, dent it or wreck it altogether? Is that really how it works?

I'm interested in hearing people's experience with this. Thanks

If you drop off in Italy (the one exception), your car is driven back to Germany to be shipped back to you. The risk is that you are allowing a stranger to drive your brand new car. I'm sure in most cases everything is fine, but....

I was originally going to drop my car off in Italy, but in the end I decided to drive it back to Germany myself and fly out of Munich. Not that I'm a control freak or anything...

There a few that have recently dropped their car in Italy. I am sure they will chime in. Please note that the person driving your car is a professional driver not somebody they hired that morning from the day labor pool.

I also briefly considered dropping my car in Italy but in the end I decided I did not want do that and drove to Nice, France.

I though of droping my car in Italy as well... however, after I found out that a bunch of miles will be added to it be someone other than me, I opted out to make my trip in Italy an open jaw ane end up droping in Nice which is not that far from northen Italy

I agree that BMW will hire a pro to drive your car. But hey, sh!t happens to the best, I'd rather reduce my chances.

Keep in mind, for Italia drop offs, you must have insurance valid for the drive back!
