There is a lot of talk about the Romantic Road on the form - what is it and why is it so good?

John's reply will give you the "what is it" answer. Why is it so "good"? Well, everyone will have a different reply to that but most will include:
- allows some spirited back road driving with relatively little traffic (especially trucks)
- great scenery with lots of spots to pull over and enjoy it (scenic overlooks, gasthaus/watering holes along the road side, etc.)
- connects a lot of interesting/historical sights and towns

Our little group of EDers had a hard time actually locating the Romantic Road and so instead, I just navigated us across some small roads (hit some very cool areas) on the way to Rothenberg (from Munich). I thought we had a great route...even when I steered us wrong but it is hard to take the "wrong way" when you are on vacation!
