ED. break-in and warranty violation?
I just ordered a 330i to be ED'd in October. My question, if I start "beating" on the car before the owner manual specified 1250 miles will BMW void my warranty? I am planning my trip to be able to take care of the initial break-in miles, but I also know the Autobahn will beckon in addition to a few laps on the Nordschleife. I have heard horror stories of Elise owners losing their warranty based on "big brother" noting, through computer records I assume, that they did not take it easy on the car for the first 1000 miles. Any concerns with BMW in this regard?

Is your definition of beating 1) same as mine where you rev the car to redline and then drop the clutch so you can make one HELLAVA wheel spin, red line the engine before it reaches normal operating temperature?? As well as making other juvenile considered as "cool" but we all know to be foolish moves??
or 2) Do you consider driving a car on in any speed excess of 75 MPH "beating"?? Say for example cruising in 6th gear at 4000 rpm running 145MPH??
I hope this is clear to you, that 1) is beating and 2) is not beating and rather its being paranoid on something one is not familiar w/ and therefore it "seems" to be beating.
Hope this helps,

On a side note, I read somewhere (could be here on the Fest) that the red temporary plates are not allowed on the Ring. I'd hate for you to get there, only to find out you cannot do anything except for watching others. You could always try to book a ride on the Ring Taxi. I think hanging on for dear life in a M5, pro driver behind the wheel, would be a little exhillarating.

As for beating, I just mean exceeding the recommended 4500 rpm prior to the 1250 mile break-in period and traveling over 100 mph (both of which you're told not to do in the manual).

I never pay attention to that part...AFAIC so long I am not redline-ing the engine, I've gotta drive how I gotta drive....
I have never had any problem w/ all of my cars, and its not anything I am concern with.
cheers,
