 Amsterdam dropoff

Does anyone have experience with Amsterdam dropoff? I'm thinking about ending my trip in AMS.

My concerns is over the 2-1 deal with Lufthansa. Can I get an open-jaw to fly back to the states from AMS, even though I land in Munich?

I'm also wondering if Harms will drive the car or will it be picked up and trucked closer to the routing point before it gets on the ship.

Trucks pick up from AMS drop-off regularly. In fact, its a very convenient drop-off b/c it's in the airport complex.

The only difference that I know of, is that the AMS cars seem to go to the Zeebrugge port instead of Bremerhaven.

I've dropped off in AMS twice and I recommend it...

Oh yea, the 2 for 1 deal is good on open jaw tix also. No problem w/ flying back from AMS - you will probably have a connection through Frankfurt on the way back to the US...

I dropped off at Amsterdam and the dropoff location is at the airport which makes it very convenient. It also gets your car back sooner if there is room on the first ship as it is a stop after it leaves Germany.

That last part is not always or even usually true. I just followed the Grus and it went Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Southampton, USA. So, each ship has its own itinerary.

I dropped my car off in Amsterdam on May 26th. The dropoff point is no longer at the Airport, it is out in the middle of a large industrial/shipping area. I was told it was 33 kilometers to the airport. It cost me 40 Euros for the taxi ride back to the central train station in Amsterdam.

Wanda was the clerk that took my key and filled out the paper work. She said my car would be trucked to Antwerp and shipped from there. This appears to be very bad news for me because according the the shipping line the next ship from Antwerp to Port Hueneme does not leave until 6/22/05, almost a whole month after my dropoff . Add another 4 weeks at sea, and the time from Port Hueneme to my dealer in Portland, and maybe I'll have my car slightly before the end of summer. If I had know this before my trip, I may have changed my dropoff point.
