My local dealer is only willing to take $400 off the ED price for the 325xi (have only one dealer in this area). Will I be able to get a better deal in the bigger markets with multiple dealers.

If you are willing to travel a little farther to get the car/price you want, you can probably do better, especially on ED. Also, you should be thinking in terms of "over invoice" and not "under MSRP." I suggest trying one of the Bimmerfest sponsers or checking the dealers who like to do ED thread....
