WTF?! BMW issues price increase on current ED orders, overrules 3/05 price sheet?!

2 weeks ago I placed an order for a 5 series for ED. Today my salesperson (the guy everyone here recommended me to, btw, and he's been great so far) told me that he received an internal BMW bulletin saying that the invoice pricing for ED and Diplomatic on current E60s (05 545, 06 525 and 530) is increasing 6/9/05. He says this may mean that even all orders before 6/9 that were negotiated above invoice will be impacted as well. He said he will investigate more details next week but is warning me that the price we agreed to may not hold. Has anyone heard anything about this? There's no way I'm gonna accept this. Although I haven't signed for the actual purchase or lease, my car has a production # and VIN already. They can't suddenly change the terms that we agreed to. Complete BS!

If you haven't signed the PO, then the car that is in production with a P# and VIN is only reserved for you at the moment. It can be someonelses car, for example, if you don't go through with the purchase.

My dealer told me way in advance that our deal with $XX over invoice is subject to any price changes should they occur. I took the risk and, fortunately, nothing changed so my PO went through with what we had agreed on.

Seems like he's trying to claw out some extra money. xx above invoice is a mechanism to agree on an actual price. Once he says "yes" your price is, say $45,645, which is xx above the invoice. So you've agreed on a price.

the only place I would see tis different is when no one knows what the new invoice prices will be exactly, so you both agree that it will be keyed to invoice, as opposed to a specific amount.

My guy told me xx above invoice. He also said he didn't think maco was charged (correct) but whatever the invoice price is, thats what he is going on (Ie; if maco was on there, I'd have to pay it) (please don't start a 'maco' discussion). So, indeed, I think if you make an over invoice price, you have to see what invoice is when you lay down the cash. (or rent as the case may be)

Nobody is trying to "claw" out more money. We were all caught off guard by the increase. BMW gives us our pricing... and it is ALWAYS subject to change. At the bottom of every price sheet is the following: " All prices and specifications are subject to change without notice." Your CA should have made that clear. If the CA didn't... I'm sure it wasn't malicious. As the earlier post stated... you are not obligated to the deal until you have signed the contract and left with the car. You have every right to walk away. But I'm certain that the dealer you are working with has no intention of loosing money on a deal and will not absorb the change... so don't get your hopes up that they will. That would be incredibly unreasonable. The right thing to do would be to accept the change and pay it... or to walk away and go buy something else. Good luck... whatever you decide to do.
