I am looking for a flight from Paris to Munich. Easyjet is sort of the "Southwest Airlines" of Europe but they don't have a direct flight between Paris and Munich. What are other commuter airlines that would have a competitive flight between these two cities? Travelocity gave me Air France at a price of $600 per person . Can someone please hook me up. Thanks |

In addition to Munich, check Augsburg. There are other lesser-used airports in Europe with good deals (e.g., Baden/Karlsruhe, Treviso, etc.).

Thanks | Nope, you're SOL. We ran into the same issue last March. We ended up cutting our Paris vacation short and flew to London for 2 night and then to Munich using BMI airways thru Expedia.com. I think the cost per person is about 200 USD. Also, the London to Munich flight was actually a Lufthansa flight codeshare with BMI.
Or you can take the 9 hr overnight train from Paris to Munich.

I am really quite shocked . One would think that there would be a plethora of flights between these two great European cities. I can't imagine that there isn't a demand for this. To me this would be like saying there are no flights between San Francisco and Los Angeles....sorry the only way is Amtrak .
Are we missing something??

After a bit of research here is what I have found on making the trip between Paris and Munich:
Train: Basically an overnighter, about 10 hours is what I have found. Just confirmed what was said here on the forum.
Flights: There are lots of flights between these two destinations, direct non-stop. The catch is that you need to buy them in that market. As an example, Luftansa has several direct flights. If you purchase a roundtrip 1 day advance Paris/Munich in that market (not in U.S.) the fare is 74 Euros or around $90.00 U.S. That same fare booked here in the U.S. will cost you over $600. I have not checked with other carriers but my guess is that they would be competitive, purchasing both in (<$100) and out (>$600) of market.
Many on the board have recommended Europebyair.com or Easyjet.com. They do have flights but you have to connect as there are no direct flights between Paris and Munich which is amazing to me. The flights are generally $99 for each leg, I think Easyjet was less. My wife and I can go from Paris to Munich via Croatia (booked on europeanair.com) for about $400.00 based on current availability. The flight time is 5.5 hours on a flight that should take about 1.5 hours (direct)!
The final analysis: Based on discussions with Luftansa regarding the number of scheduled flights, we have decided to book the flight during our Frankfurt layover, or in Paris when we get there (1 day advance purchase, we need the flight 4 days after we arrive in Paris). If we get shut out with no availability, we'll rent a car and make the 5 hour drive which is 1/2 the train ride time, and the same time as the Croatia connection.
All this stuff is easy ..........right???
