Here is what I hsve been thinking.... I would like to DRIVE the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE so hopefully I have picked some good routes. I would also like to see some sights and have a few days to just bum around (Venice & Vienna) the area and see what I find. Leave NYC on sat Arrive in Munich on Sun stay the night. Pickup on Monday and head to (castles) Fussen then stay the night in Innsbruck Tuesday drive to Venice via Brenner pass stay Tuesday and Wednesday night in Venice Thusday head to stay in Salzburg via the Grossglocknerstrassee. Friday head to Vienna stay until Sunday and then head back to Muncih for the night. Monday afternoon dropoff and then to the airport and then onto London then back to NYC! Basic time frame is one week with the car in Europe!! Any recommendations or input is greatly appreciated, I have been reading alot of your itineraries and picked up some ideas from them. Should I shorten a stay or delete a stay and add another? The two musts are Venice and the Grossglocknerstrassee. I already booked my hotel via priceline in munich for the first and last night of the trip, going to try to do the same for Venice and Vienna. Innsbruck and Slazburg via tripadvisor.com . I am amazed by viamichelin.com the mapping program is awesome!! Why can't we get that not mapquest or expedia?
Thanks!!

IMHO, good itinerary, albeit if it were for me, I would skip Vienna and take a more leisurely pace overall. For example, visit 1 or 2 of the famous Bavarian Castles, go to Garmish, stop in Bolzano or Verona, plan some visits of the wineries in the Venice region, go to Solden in Austria, ...

Thanks!! | Great itinerary. Would consider doing drop-off in Vienna and flying out from there to spend more time there.

can't fly from vienna, that was my original plan..... but all seats are sold out We tried on the phone all sorts of ways even if I flew there out of my own pocket to another destination then home on Luftansa it could not be done except for a huge chunk of change, so I opted out. How long of a drive is it back to Munich not more than 5- 6 hours I think. As someone mentioned about Jet lag.... I have flown to Hawaii from NY both ways and had no problem acclimating so I do not anticipate a problem. I just start changing my eating and sleep pattern a week in advance when still at home! Thanks for all the advice and keep it coming!!
