So I now have a production number, 6823010. Does anyone know how to find out when my ED car will actually get built based on production number?

BTW, when I called I was given a production date of 8/1/05. I thought the factories are shut down in August. Go figure!

Yes... under a "normal" production year that is the case.
In case you haven't noticed... the E90 factory shut-down/retooling occured a few months back. Thus the reason that every E90 you saw on the street is known as 2006.

Well, I called BMWNA like you suggested and they said my car would be built July 24. They said my car would have the start/stop button because it was an 06. However, I told the person that there are 06 5 series already on the lot here and they do not have the start\stop button. The person was very courteous, but he could not really explain why those 5 series do not have the start\stop button.
