I read on tripadvisor of stolen personal belongings and a car in Villa Fiesole so I'm a bit concerned. Has anyone had any good/bad experience there and is it insane to drive into the city center in July/August??

I read about stolen personal belongings and car in New York so I'm a bit concerned?
I think I should not leave my belongings in an car with my car keys when I'm visiting NY . Is it OK to drive into Manhattan and park on Wall Street in July? Any advice?

Wallenrod is right, you shouldn't leave any personal belongings in your car no matter where you park your car, even in front of your house.

i was just in florence. driving there is awesome - no rules and its just like playing a video game. the more scooters you hit, the more points you get.
just park at the train station in the center. you'll find it in your navigation.

I think in Florence Fiesole is youre best bet. It seemed much safer than anywhere in town. I would not leave anything in the car anywhere.

... but a great one. Stay at the Villa Cora in Florence (luxury hotel with a pool and free parking, on a hill south of the river). They have a free shuttle to the center whenever you want it.
Remember, Florence is reclaimed swampland. It is hot and humid in the summer. Pools and AC are a must. Also, the posts above are serious: do not leave anything visible in the car wherever you park south of Munich.
