Will this DVD work? I mailed the seller and he said it is the professional version but the part # does not match
Here we have a brand new Genuine BMW Satelite Navigation DVD - BMW part number 65 90 04 03 168 retails at 165.00 + vat. This is a brand new DVD never used and covers all Western Europe, Czech Republic and Slovakia without changing the DVD.

I also found this description for another:

They offer navigation DVD on a BMW 2005-1 version Europe Business 2005-1. The BMW navigation system makes the transnational route guidance possible in completely Western Europe, Tschechien and the Slowakei without DVD changes. This corresponds to a total road system of approx. 4 million road kilometers, Faehrverbindungen permits the route guidance also over water ways. The Road map Europe Buiseness contains the following countries: A, AND, B, CH, CZ, D, DK, E, F, FIN, flat steel bar, GB, I, IRL, L, MC, N, NL, P, RSM, S, SCV, SK on push of a button indicates the BMW navigation system the next BMW partner with complete address and telephone number to you. Apart from the actual pilot guidance the Road map Europe Business contains a multiplicity of useful Tipps and information to objects of interest, restaurants, hotels, shopping centres, measurement and conference centers, gas stations and much more besides. Consents and goal-safe navigation by Germany, all Western European countries

Thanks to GOOGLE for the German translation!! That has to be the coolest feature I can think of for a search engine to do, or use FireFox.

Thanks for any input!

My take:

Most of those on ebay are bootleg disk, or disk that won't work on your system. Pretty risky proposition to go there and find out the disk won't work. Don't know how you are gonna get your money back or file a complaint in German or whatever the EU country the seller is from.

These disks sells for over 240 euros in EU market. Thru Navteq USA you can buy it for around $180~187 shipped w/ tax. If you MUST have you own disk then call Navteq and buy one from them here in US. Its a pretty crappy feeling to find that the money you thought you saved trying to buy thru ebay still doesn't work. I understand that most people here doing ED are misers like myself and trying to save a few bucks by using the ED saving. But if you are gonna spring for the $1k+ for the Nav option, I would think you want to be sure the system works in europe where you are enjoying your vacation.

If you go there once every 3~4 years, I suggest that you rent the disk. I rent out only OEM DVD Navigation professional disk from NavTeq. I gurantee that the disk are OEM and that they work. I don't require anyone to pay me ahead until the disk are return. $35 plus shipping is a fair price to split the cost and I can honestly say that i haven't made a dime on the rental disk program. All funds are rolled over on new disk purchased.

Just my 2 cents worth,

beewang

If the picture shows "Road Map Europe Professional", I think you're good. I bought a 2005-1 on eBay recently from someone who recently came back from ED and got a great deal. It's piece 65 90 0 395 170. I think it's pretty safe if you buy from another ED person (especially if they picked up the same series). I agree with Beewand I wouldn't buy from someone doing business of off this though...

Just so you'll know for sure, I just got the Euro DVD loaner from beewang last Friday (we leave for Munich this week). It's the real thing: in a BMW DVD case, with the BMW DVD label on it. And dealing with beewang was a complete and total pleasure.

Lemme tell ya, in today's online world, people like beewang are becoming extinct: they're the guys (or gals) who provide incredible knowledge, advice and service to whatever enthusiast community they are associated with. And they do it just for the pleasure of helping others.

So, don't search Google any further; don't bid on a supposedly original BMW DVD. Just email or PM beewang and pray that he's got availability when you want to borrow the DVD.
