My baby was only two days old when it got dinged all over in a hail storm in Menaggio Italy.  Gerling told me to return the car to BMW at Reiser Feld Strasse instead of Harms. I'm worried that it'll fall through the crack and I won't be able to track the car. Does anyone have advise for me? I'll check the forum when I come back from Monaco this afternoon. |

TK, Not to worry, they will fix the damage. Try to enjoy the rest of your trip. The car can/will be fixed.

Unfortunately I had the opposite experience in a parking garage in Bolzano, Italy. Some nice parking companion put 2 nice dings into my driver side doors. I must say that Gerling Insurance took complete control..made all arrangements immediately and the BMW repair coordinator was very comforting and supportive. I dropped it off last Friday, they tell me that Monday next week it will be at Harms. I'll let you know what kind of repair I get when it returns to the US>

Sorry to hear about that... It will all work out though, they are very good. I had dropped off my car at Harms before I called Gerling. Mr Linsmeir arranged everything for me, all I made was one phone call and one fax.
Gerling had my car picked up at the drop-off center, brought to BMW Munich where the hood was painted perfectly and a new windshield was installed with like precision. The car was then brought back to Harms and trucked to Bimmerhaven then next day. All in all my car had only 6 miles added to it when it got to my dealers underground parking structure. That's as low as I've heard, and my car was sidetracked with the repair.
So, I'd do as Linsmeir suggests.
Oh, my car arrived to the day 8 weeks after my original drop-off, 6.5 weeks after it's re-delivery to Harms.

Thanks, that is great to hear. Mr Haven was comforting but knowing that they painted your entire hood (and you were happy with the results) is very satisfying since they likely had to paint both doors.
