We had a great tour on Fri at Dingolfing. The main differences vs Munich:
1. They make the 5/6/7s there......I mean....you are in Bmer nirvana on this tour...the production lines are visible UP CLOSE....you are actually close enough to the workers to have a chat...not that it would be proper...but wow....you are about 10 feet from the actual cars.
2. 100 times more modern than Munich...the plant is just plain amazing in it's "techiness" and it's size
3. no paint shop tour like in Munich...that was the only disappointment.
4. Got to see the cars "road tested" in the "speed chamber".....every car is taken up to 100km/hour....all the gears are checked and you can see the computer readouts on a big flat-screen.
It's 45 minutes from Munich (mostly all autobahn) and TOTALLY worth the trip. I would choose it over Munich if I had time for only one tour.
More when I get back...no cable here to download the pics from my digital. 600 miles in 4 days including one helluva thunderstorm in Hall-in-Tirol Austria.

How do you take the tour? Signup? Pay? Special circumstances?

Klaus-Henning Hoffmann Klaus-Hen.Hoffmann@bmw.de Tel / Phone: ++49-(0)8731-76-27597 Fax: ++49-(0)8731-76-22382 www.bmw-werk-dingolfing.de
I would just give him a call directly instead of e-mailing him. If you e-mail him, make sure to give the following info:
- full name and address - number of participants (no children aged under 14 years) - Phone and Fax-number to get the invitation letter and general information incl. a little map how to approach to the Dingolfing Plant.
It's a free tour and the english version is Fridays at 2pm. The first 30 minutes they show a movie....we were late for the movie (15 min) and it didn't matter.

Is there anything to do around the Dingolfing factory?
I'm doing ED with my 4 year old nephew, so can he and another family member do something there while I'm on the tour?

The factory is in the middle of nowhere in the countryside. But then again we came, went on the tour, and then left. So I can't say.
