 nice story

after flying 14 hours from portland, oregon to munich i went (like many others) directly to the delivery center. i think next time i would wait until the next day. i was a little foggy when markus was geberously explaining various fetaures to me. in any case, the next day we drove from munich to lindau germany on our way to ascona switzerland. since i could not draw down the owners manual ahead of time and had a very quick rundown of the nav system, i was a little unclear about how it worked. upon leaving lindau, we set out for ascona. i had the system set on short route avoiding highways and my girlfriend pointed out that we are were in the boodndocks. i was a bit frustrated since i idnt know exactly what i had done wrong when i passed a bmw dealership by the side of the road. i promptly did a quick u turn. the dealership was located in bregenz, austria. inside was a sole salesman who very readily came out the help us. he spent about 30 minutes with us and very graciously helped. his english was so-so and he did pull a black 535d around next to my car and had to translate from german to english. what a nice guy!

That's cool.

Yeah the nav takes some getting used to. I had a minor freak out when after I missed a turn in Fussen, and the nav did a crazy recalc of the route to innsbruck that went from 70 odd miles to 240 (back through Munich). it took us a while of playing with it to get it to send us a reasonable way.

Yesterday In Florence it took us on a crazy back road up the hill to fiesole that was so narrow I actually had to use the folding mirriors feature to squeeze by a passing car.

That being said, the Nav is a god-send. It is worth every penny. The interface is excelent although they should have sprung for a faster processer as it often ignores commands the first time and has even just plain crashed once (it rebooted and came right back up after 90 seconds or so, but that was a long panic stricken 90 seconds let me tell you).

.
OMG, I had the same experience in Fiesole in March. That was the day I must have cursed myself the most. Do not follow the Nav if going to Villa Fiesole. Follow the directions on the hotel website.
