 Flat-spot in tires?

While driving the A9 I noticed a vibration @ 70mph and above. Told my dealer about it and they promised to take care of it before redelivery. Well, redelivery has come and gone and the vibration still exsists....dealer says flat-spots are a result of my car sitting for 6-7 weeks prior to ED and should "work themselves out in a few hundred miles." Anyone have a similar experience with this?....because I ain't sure I want to buy the "it sat too long" theory.

It could be a tire might simply be out of Balance.

That was my first thought too, but the dealer says he put the car on a rack and he could see the flat spots.

That would mean that every imported car would have "flat spots" in the tires upon arrival in the U.S. Somehow that doesn't make sense to me. After having read these forums for a while, I don't think I have read about this one single time. My car should be here within three weeks. I certainly hope there will be no "flat spots" and vibration around 70mph.

Also, when driving in europe I took the car up to 132 mph and it was super smooth. Just for reference I have a 530i with the sport package. A BMW should be one of the last cars to vibrate.

I had no problems with my 530i 2005 in Europe or in the Us after re-delivery, its been 1 month. No sports package on mine.

It's an odd excuse, but I'm not sure the reason should matter. It's a flaw with the car as you got it,. Shouldn't BMW fix it as part of the program? You reported it when you dropped it off, and the problem is recurring. I realize there's no tire warranty, but it seems like they should think about giving you a new tire (or tires) that aren't flat. If they say it was storage, they've basically admitted it waas their fault.

(And I agree with the poster noting it hasn't been a problem for anyone else here, which makes me even more suspicious).
