Driving destinations around Europe
Picking up and dropping off car in Munich, don't know what will be the best route to vist Austria, France, Italy in 14 days that is not too far from each other. Any suggestions of were to visit first, second, third, etc.... | | Reply » Driving destinations around Europe | I am in it for the SPEED and will stay on the autobahn as long as I can
Sorry .... no help here... but maybe others can chime in.
| | Reply » Driving destinations around Europe | If you substitute Germany for France, then my trip is the same as yours and it is documented in my pictures and write-up including a route map. Link is in my signature.

In any event, I did a route that was great;and this could be a starting point for you. I highly recommend viamichelin.com or mappy.com to help plan. I did a clockwise route from Munich-Austria-Southern Germany-Northern Italy-French Alps- Central France-Burgundy-Paris. I went from Munich to Salzburg (you could add Vienna; I have been twice, and did not need to go back)..then to Fussen (the castles)...then to Bellagio, Lake Como (you could do Milan, Venice, or even Florence as well, or instead of)... Then west through the Alps to France...Annecy, then Lyon (you could also go farther south and do the Riviera, if you wish), then north through Burgundy, and up to Paris, where I dropped the car...You could do Paris (or not), then head east to Strasbourg...then continue east through Germany, ending in Munich. You could definitely do some version of this approximate route in 14 days, spending a day in some places, and two or three days in others.
Good luck.
| | Reply » Driving destinations around Europe | I did my ED in only 5 days so we kind of rushed it - but you could easily do our same route and take your time a little more. Pick up in Munich. Drive to Italy via Brenner Pass to Verona. Then you could visit Venice, then down to Florence (Firenze). Spend a few days exploring Florence and the Tuscay region. Any more time, you could go down south to Rome. Drive up the West Italian coast visit Pisa, Cinqua Terra, then up to Lake Como. Drive back through Austria and stop at Innsbruck - it's a beautiful town in the mountains. Maybe drive west to Vienna for a day or so. Then back to Munich. You could spend a day or two in Munich, a day in Fussen, visit Rotenburg and drive on the Romantic Road.
Hope this helps
