Re-Delivery: Trip complete! Write-up and pics
Well it was a great trip and fine wait. Thanks all for following along I hope you enjoyed the process as much as I did!
Even the dealer was quick: In one day they performed not only the pre-delivery inspection but also the M3 special 1200 mile service which includes oil, transmission and differential fluid changes. (I opted to wait for re-delivery rather than do the service in Europe).
I’m very pleased with my re-delivery times, especially if you exclude the 10 days my car was pulled from shipping due to the hood being scratched and windshield chipped by flying debris on the autostrada. (This occurring on the way back to Munich from Italy on the last day of the trip). Thus it was only a 6.5 week re-delivery.
Gerling, the ED insurance company handled all the repair details with one phone call and a fax. No money or any other involvement on my part was needed. After a normal drop-off Gerling pulled my car and trucked it to BMW Munich, where the actual factory sprayed the hood and the new windshield was installed, then transported the car back to the shipper in 8 days total. (excluding the first weekend)
I must say, it is perfect. In fact better than original, as my wife pointed out to me a little paint flaw on the side edge of the hood on delivery (which I said ignore) which is not there now.
So ED-2 is complete. Thanks again for your encouragement, knowledge and general camaraderie! Here’s the pictures:

Complete Euro-Delivery Write-up and Pictures | Congratulations!
Great write-up and pics.
By the way, I strongly second the John Burch recommendation. He is the best. I am waiting for redelivery of my 545 ED I just did with him.
As a soon to be former e46 owner (convertible), I hope you enjoy the car; it is awesome!
