 Soonest ship leaving dropoff location??

Hello

I am looking to drop my car off on 6/29. I know there are shipping arrival schedules above but I was unable to discern a concrete answer.

I would like to know, based on my desired dropoff date of 6/29, which location to dropoff at that will get my car onto the boat a.s.ap. I know there are several dropoff locations. Are all of these locations places where the car actually gets on the boat? Or are they just redelivered to a central location for shipment?

I'm basically looking to get my car on the boat departing the closest to my dropoff date (6/29) and am willing to drive up to 6 hours to get it there.

I know, I sound like an addict but I've heard stories of cars sitting for over a week or so wating for the next boat so if I can get my car to a location with a boat leaving on say......mmmmmmmm........the 29th, that would be great! Wishful thinking but you get the idea.

Yes I know I am pathetic and impatient but I haven't even picked up yet and the anticipation is already killing me.

Thanks for any suggestions or recommendations.

Most of the cars are trucked to Bremerhaven in Northern Germany. I think just to get the car booked for passage takes 5-7 days of processing time. Remember, nothing is reserved, your car is just looking for the next voyage available.

I think despite its distance from Bremerhaven, Munich and Frankfurt are the best drop off points since they are probably the busiest in terms of having enough cars to load a truck for the voyage to Bremerhaven.

I dropped mine in Antwerp only to have it get shipped back to Bremerhaven (added 5 days to travel time) Since you are a West coaster, your car will get shipped to Port Huemene near LA on a vessel run by NYK Line - they have no tracking tools so do not expect to track your boat while it's on the water. Figure 5 to 6 weeks until you recieve your car once it leaves port - mine is scheduled for 27 days on the water (supposed to get to Port Huemene in 5 more days!!)

Their schedule site is not working at the moment but go there and search for
Bremerhaven, DEU as your departure and
Port Huemene, CA, USA as your arrival

Their schedule site is at
http://www.nykline.com/servlet/com.i...heduleSearchPg or just click "schedule" from the home page ifthat link doesn't work.

Hope that helps,
Jeff

I think arnolds is right on here...at least given what Herr Behrends told me on the way to the airport.
There is no formula that I have heard of to predict which dropoff gets your car offshore quickest. Harms in Munich runs at least 4 trucks toward Bremerhaven per week he told me. I'm pretty sure he said that some of those stop in other cities to pick up cars on their way.
I suggest e-mailing Herr Behrends (or some other Harms insider) to have any hope of getting the info. you want.

On my first ED, I dropped off in Hamburg based on the same theory... that being closer to the port of departure would expedite redelivery. It didnt make any difference... it took almost exactly the same amount of time for my 2nd ED car to get to Port Hueneme.
My conclusion (based on a very small sample) is that at least half the battle is scheduling... being close to Bremerhaven doesn't give you any better chance of there actually being an available space on the next ship.
