Morning Melody finally arrived in NY

She is finally here and my baby is finally on US soil. I know there are at least a few others on this board that are on the Morning Melody. Hasn't it been painful watching the arrival date be pushed back to the 23rd, then 24th, and finally today? The Takasago left Bremerhaven three days after us and arrived in port yesterday.

Time was really flying until about a week ago. The next couple weeks are going to feel like an eternity.

Is there any way to track it from here or do I just wait for a call from my dealer?

Glad its here! AFAIK there is no tracking on the ground.

I've been following my ship (at least I hope it is). And when its moving it's great, but when it just sits... Right now, it appears to be 4 days behind schedule

I agree with you, mine was on the same ship and these few days have been painful. I was kind of hoping my car had fallen off the ship or something like that so I can plan another trip sooner. Oh well!

Out of frustration(its been 16 days my car is in VDC), I figured out a way to track the vehicle after it cleared from customs.

The biggest delay is at the VDC to generate a shipping request for the transporter. This is done after the regular inspection at VDC. It may not be a bad idea to request your dealer to put a rush on your car....so VDC can hasten up. The dealership can track the movement at VDC if BMWNA updates the web tracking systems. In my case we had to request it. ...so this is not automatic.

Bavarian Motor Transport has the contract for moving all vehicles from the VDC to the dealership. I have their 800 number and the Terminal Manager's name. These guys can give you up to date information on the transportation once they get the shipping request. Unfortunately I left the 800# at work. I promise to update this post tomorrow morning with the contact details.

Sorry, no online tracking guys.

PittBMW NEED THAT PHONE NUMBER, GOING NUTS WAITING!

The phone number of the BMT terminal is 18005487359. (Al and/or Herald is the BMT terminal Manager)

Here is a strong recommendation:
FIRST: HAVE THE DEALER CALL THEM.
SECOND: HAVE THE DEALER CALL THEM ONLY AFTER THE CAR IS RELEASED FOR SHIPPING FROM THE VDC.

On the first day when I called I got all information. The next day I got a rude response saying that they will give me absolutely no information and that I should stop calling them. They suggested that the dealer call since they are the consignee.

My dealer has been calling and getting all real time updates from these guys.

Hope this helps.

BTW, my car got on a truck at 633am this morning and will arrive tomorrow morning. What a bummer that I cannot pick it up tomorrow since I am out of town. A total of 18 days at VDC.
