I made the seat reservation with Lufthansa today (2-1 promotion) for departure at the end of July. The lady said that they cannot guarantee the fare until ticketed (paid). I remember posts on this forum where people said that Lufthansa would keep the reservation until one month before departure. But does anybody have experience if the fare can change as the time goes by? I am not sure if it's safe to wait that long given the fact that it's summer time so fares usually go just one direction (up).

Yes, Lufthansa does hold your tickets until approximately 1 month prior to your travel dates. Yes, the fare can change between now and the time they book your tickets. I was told my tickets were guarranteed at a certain price, but when booking came my total airfare price was higher than initially quoted.

In this season, expect the prices to only go up. Since you are paying for the primary ticket(in our case we had the primary ticket paid by BMW) it may be better to confirm the tickets and pay for it.

I made my reservation about 2 months ago and they quoted me about $1600 total for 2 tix. When I got my VIN early last week and booked the ticket the total price went up about $100. Still not too bad for June and west coast departure.

You bet it will change. And for the worse. I go to Europe every year and so I try to keep up with fares often. This year will be expensive. I'm looking at late August now and it is one of the more expensive years I remember. Summer will be expensive. I'd buy it now.
