Some advice for those picking up their cars. 1. Spend time in London. If you think 1.30 USD to 1 Euro is bad, try 1.92 USD per 1 British Pound. 2. Sodas are expensive in Europe and no refills too. This coke and sprite cost us 6.40 Euros each. It was half the price of our meal. This was in a lovely restaurant at the Jardin De Toullares between the Louvre and Arc Du Triomphe. Food wasn't overly expensive though. Its just the drinks(bottled water and soda) that really add up during the meal. I'm sure others will chime in. |

It's probably cheaper than bottled water, not to mention sodas. The only soda I kind of miss from Europe is orange Fanta - US stuff tastes like oversweetened corn syropy crap. I'll have one usually when I'm there. But seriously, London is pretty expensive no matter what. Still, food will end up costing similar or less than comparable US even with the current exchange rates in Europe. London and Paris are also probably the most expensive cities in Europe.

Here's my fast food experience in London.
Found this place called Wasabi near Picadilly, fastfood Japanese joint all over London. Our meal was two chicken curry over rice, 8 pieces of sushi(@1.50 for 2) and a couple of drinks. Price came out to 23 pounds for crap fastfood. Oh yeah, there was a 1.50 service charge for eating in, and a 25 cent charge for each soysauce packet, wasabi and ginger!

Food not expensive!?
Was in paris during Easter with everything being closed, was forced to eat at the hotel bar. Two plates of hamburger with freedom fries and a turkey sandwich plus hot tea and two colas = 55 Euros $75 not expensive?

Our meal ranged out to about 35-50 USD for two persons.
We even had a great b-fast for about 25 bucks for two persons at a local cafe next to our hotel (Le Meridien Montparnasse).
