Interlaken to Paris..is it realy 7 hours
Via Mich. says it's seven hours from Interlaken to Paris. That is an average speed of about 60 miles an hour!!! I was hoping to go a bit faster I am planning to drop the car off at the airport on a Friday. If I get near Paris around 2-3pm, I wonder what the traffic will be like. Any ideas on speed limits, route, rush-hour, best place to wash the car, etc? Thanks. | | Reply » Interlaken to Paris..is it realy 7 hours | Quote: Via Mich. says it's seven hours from Interlaken to Paris. That is an average speed of about 60 miles an hour!!! My experience was about half obeys it and the other 49% goes 20-30kph over. Then you have the 1% including ED drivers who look for the other crazy drivers willing to go higher.
Its really uncanny to see many obeying the 130 kph on tollways that were wide open. The thought of the toll price being calculated by your AVG speed crossed my mind, the faster you go, the higher the toll.

This is ironic-I will be able to go as fast as I want in Germany, but my car will not be over the break-in period; then I get to France and my car is past the break-in, but I can't go over 78mph.

We kept to the speed limit in France, they're a bit nastier than the Germans about tickets. When approaching Paris take one of the outer belt highways to the airport, don't even think about the Periphique on a Friday afternoon. You will still have a lot traffic, but it moves. Getting close to the Airport and TTTransit you will see the Total car wash...we didn't wash the car so I don't know how to get to it, but you will see it. (When you see the huge Ikea store, start watching). Good luck! Are you staying in Paris after drop-off?

I took it past there several times! You can't hit 152 mph and stay under 4500 rpm...let me put it that way!

They should wash it at the drop-off, even if it's a charge. I'm catching the train into the City for a three-day stay.
