 Inspecting the car after redelivery?

Are you supposed to make a thorough inspection of the car at the dealership in the US after it arrives from Europe and bring any found issues (dents, scratches etc) to their attention? Or, they would still take care of it if you came back in a few days saying that you found something?

Make sure you check it out before you leave the dealer upon redeliervy.Case in point,I had a chip on one of my rims that you coundn't see when it was facing down towards the road.it wasn'tcurb rash, they missed it at the drop off at the VPC and at the dealer.I picked it up 2 weeks after I took redeliervy and gave the car its fisrt wash .I brought it to the dealers attention and they refinished it for me,which I thought was good of them they even gave me a 05 X3 for 2 days while they fixed the rim.
cheers

To protect yourself you need to check the car carefully. Walk around closely, look underneath, and inside the car. Note any damage of the redelivery sign off report. The picture below shows the damage the underside of my bumper (both sides). The damage was noted at VPC according to the dealer and not repaired. The car was detailed at the dealership and again nobody said anything. At that time 2 other Texans had their ED cars redelivered with similar damage. When my CA called me to tell me my car was ready to be picked up and was on display in the show room I asked him to check for underbumper damage. He though I was being silly.

The CA tried to get me to sign the redelivery report without noting the damage. He wanted to keep it a verbal thing. I refused and told I would not take redelivery unless I could note it on the report. I wrote a note on the top part of the form. That night I took the picture below and e-mailed it to him to further document the damage. It tooks 4 weeks of discussion with BMWNA before being authorized for repairs.
