What kind of gas do you put in your car while in Germany? I've never driven there, so do they use the same kind of gas as the US?

ok, i guess my question was more like -- how does the gas we use in germany translate in to what we will use in the us? it's not diesel is it?

I think you got it the wrong way around. The better gas is in Europe, you'll be putting the lesser gas in when you get back. You are worring about nothing... relax, it's all good and easy to figure out.
