Hi,
I want to know if many people have done this before and how their experience was.
Have you bought a car from Dealer A and then took it for servicing at Dealer B all the time.
I think its allowed (I mean its no rule that you should take it to the same dealer from whom you bought it!), but will the Dealer B do any mischief with the car?
Thanks for your inputs!

Thanks for your inputs! | I can honestly say that I know of one local BMW dealer, in my area, that marks car purchased from them and serviced at their dealership as "FAMILY", with this being said, one can only guess how the others are marked and treated.

BMW of Sterling does the family thing - but let's be honest here... service depts are in it for the profit. There's no way a certified dealer would purposely mess with a car because its only going to jack with their rep. They may not be the most knowledgeable and therefore not always know the best way to fix your car but they won't purposely mess with it. They want your business regardless if you are "family."
And the answer to your question is yes - you can buy you car from dealer a and service at dealer B. I did that with my 2001 325 and never had problems with the service itself. Now getting an appt was another story

I have heard stories of the difference being up to "3" weeks if getting your car serviced at a BMW dealer that you "didn't purchase it from. Just some food for thought.

Some dealers that provide loaner car programs have stipulations about you buying your car there. Other than that, any decent service department should be glad to get a new customer and then try to keep you.
