... and are wondering , "Dude, where's my car"?

We all know that the OC has absolutely no credibility for tracking our vehicles....

Well, I'm not sure if this is something new, (I haven't read anything similar on here), but I just received a letter from BMW stating:

"BMW NA has received notification that the above mentioned car is anticipated to arrive at the US Port of Entry on 4/06/05 aboard the vessel BUJIN". I dropped off on 2/24.

It goes on to say:

"Upon arrival, the vehicle must first clear US Customs and Dept. of Agriculture inspections before it is released to the VDC. Please note that these inspections have recently become more thorough resulting in longer processing times. The VDC treats every ED car as a priority, but the processing time will be longer if any repairs are needed. It may take up to 20 business days from the actual docking date at the port for the car to reach the dealership."

According to the OC, my car is still awaiting transport.

So, I guess my advice is just be patient...... good things take time.

Nothing new. Everyone gets this letter and if you can't track on the W&W site its about the only reliable information you can get without your dealer's help.

It's been my experience (4 ED's in 5 years) that the cars are shipped relatively quickly. HOwever, they do seem to disappear for a while in the black hole of VPC and the wait can be tough. If they say 20 days, expect that and be surprised if it actually comes quicker.

I dropped off my car in Vienna on 3/10. Is there a site that tracks its progress?

One piece of advice I would give anyone doing an ED is to wash the car before you drop it off. My car was covered in dirt and salt from the roads and I didnt even think about when it would be washed. They told me that it would be washed in the next 2-3 weeks before it got on the ship.
