Where Can You Get Autoroute Software in the US?
Microsoft has a great program called Streets and Trips (and its business oriented sister MapPoint). However it only has US maps. One of the great features is setting up a trip with mutliple stops, identifying a combination of arrival, departure, or duration times for each.
They sell a European version, Autoroute 2004, but that doesn't have US maps.
Is there a way to purchase it in the US to plan the trip in advance?
Thanks,
David

One note, however. I have it, and I don't like it at all. Unless you need the ability to browse around a map, or you need something that you can take with you on a laptop without the need for an internet connection, I don't think it's as good as some online mapping sites like Michelin's or Mappy.

MapPoint/Streets and Trips/Autoroute shouldn't need an Internet connection. Mine certainly doesn't.
I did find that although not on the MSDN distribution DVD, it is part of MSDN. So I can download it. Unfortuately I am having a problem with the Microsoft MSDN file transfer software. Hopefully Microsoft can resolve it tomorrow.
And you can get a 60-day trial of MapPoint Europe for under $10 and Europe and NA for $12.95. I recommend the combined package if you aren't familiar with the software, since you can use it for familiar surroundings. MapPoint Trial Software
Again, it allows you to but togther a whole day (or multiple day) trip with times, different optimizations for different segments (quickest, shortest, or preferred roads) and set a combination of arrival time, departure time, and duration. Very useful.
For an idea of how it looks and works you can see Mapblast. I am going to use it with the Eyewitness Guides (Germany, Austria, Munich, and Vienna) to layout the trip and insure (to the best of my ability) that we didn't over schedule.

My specific experience with it was using it in Paris, and it wasn't good at all. But, who knows? It could be great for other areas.

I checked the other retailers listed on Microsoft's website for Autoroute, and all were limited to European addresses.
The trial offer is probably the best bet. I made good use of it prior to my trip, although, since I ordered the Nav option, it wasn't strictly necessary. Good for planning purposes, I suppose.
