I dropped my 645 Ci off at Harms in Munich on 2/18 and wanted to check on the progress for shipping it home to CA. The Owners Circle website still shows the car "Awaiting Transport".
Is it normal for a car to sit for 2 weeks before it gets shipped? Is there another way for me to get an up to date status of where the car actually is?

SRT Viper, since you dropped off on the 18th, and xMotor and I dropped off on the 21st, I'm guessing our cars are on the same boat. In fact the boat has already left and passed sweden, on its way to Belgium. It should arrive in New York on March 13th.

Check out this site:
http://www.2wglobal.com/www/wep/index.jsp
Go to Cargo Tracking. Then click Auto Cargo on the right.
Where it says Cargo ID, enter your VIN number. It will show you your car's status. Then you can click on the Voyage name and it will show the boat's schedule.

Good luck and enjoy!

I was told (by Harms) that BMW no longer uses W&W for west coast bound ED cars. They use NYK. If that is the case, your car will probably not show up on W&W tracking system (although some people have reported that the info shows up for certain ships anyway).

I dropped my 645Cic in Munich on 1/18, it departed Bremerhaven on 1/28 and arrived at Port Hueneme on 2/26. Owners Circle said my car was awaiting shipment for about 3 weeks after drop off but it was definitely on the boat sooner than that. OC is notoriously unreliable. There's a very good chance your car is already on a ship. OC now shows an ETA date of 3/5 - I'm crossing my fingers that it might be accurate just this once!

If your experience is anything like mine, you have about a month to go...

Thanks guys.....I tried the W&W site and they have no tracking information for my Vin #. Bill....how did you find out the information about the shipping of your car if it wasn't on the OC or W&W tracking?

I sent an e-mail to Harms asking if they had any information about the booking for my car (the e-mail addresses are on the ED page at BMWUSA.com) ... they gave me the ship name, departure date and scheduled arrival date. A couple weeks after drop off, you will also get a letter confirming the same info.
