Whats to see in Salzburg, last minute change!
Sorry, I'd do the research, but I'm leaving in a few hours and a friend I was to meet in Munich would have a much easier time if it was Salzburg. Any suggestions for things to see there, where to go/stay etc... for an over nighter or day and 1/2. We were already talking about Berchtesgaden, so that might be a possibility (then saw something to make me think it's closed right now?)... Anyway, last minute ideas please.

You could spend a day walking around the town-the high fortress, the mirabel gardens, one of the chocolate shops, the art museum.
If you're driving there, go through berchtesgaden, and take teh boat trip on the Konigsee out to the picturesque chapel, alhtough that's nearly a half day in itself.

I personally would skip Saltzburg and head to Vienna. The ride is beautiful and there is much more to see in Vienna than Saltzburg.

The Sound of Music was shot in Salzburg, Austria. It is a beautiful city nestled against the foothills of the Alps. Dunno if you are familiar with Boulder, CO, but I was told is it something like that.

Thanks guys... It looks like Salzburg has become a new last minute destination for us. Will try to check in from Munich before the pickup.
