In the (kind of) Lake Como area I would highly recommend staying in Lugano. The Lake Como area is less than a 40 min. drive from there. The drive to Lake Como is not very long (depending on your threshold for driving).
Are you still going to try to do the Dingolfing tour on the 24th?
See you at the delivery center or maybe even at the Munich airport.
| | Reply » Lake Como Hotel suggestions??? | I just returned from the ED of my 645 Ci and the best 3 nights of my trip were spent on Lake Como. I stayed in a hotel in Lenno called Albergo Lenno. It was great and I will definately go back. You can take the boat to Bellagio, drive to other cities on the lake including Lugano. I drove back from there on Friday morning and drove thru the Swiss Alps...a beautiful drive and was in Munich in time to return the car to Harms by 4pm. I highly recommend this hotel. email me if you want the details. Andy andrewweiss@verizon.net

In any event, though I have never been to Lake Como, I have spoken to many friends who have all highly recommended staying in Bellagio. Lugano gets raves as well. In Bellagio there are two small hotels that are reasonable (110 -180 Euro), and get very good reviews; The Florence and Hotel Du Lac Bellagio (there is also a Hotel Du Lac in Varenna, a different lakeside town).
If you are splurging, the Villa D'Este is a palace hotel, with rooms starting around 400 Euro.

PM me and we will compare routes. I am staying at the Hotel Bellagio; it's part of the hotel du lac, but a little cheaper (E 140).
Have fun!

Greg | My plans are for May, so they are very initial. I am planning a few nights in Bellagio. All of the prior suggestions look great. Make sure you guys get plenty of pictures. Enjoy.
